Final call for Boston

Don't worry, we haven't deviated from the itinerary, but merely commenting on the rather persistent calls in Heathrow for this flight. The airport was apparently failing its target for providing enough flight info, which might have explained the gate confusion for those passengers.

Anyway,we had a very smooth passage through until our flight was delayed as the plane needed to be cooled down.  Eventually we boarded the flight, which was very long and boring and served by some particularly surly hostesses. The afternoon tea of half a sandwich and a scone left a lot to be desired.

Finally making it to our delightful hotel (via an eventful taxi ride featuring a Harley Davidson biker that fell over going up the wrong way in a one way street), we eventually got ourselves together and departed for the hop-on hop-off bus tour of San Francisco. By this time it was about 4pm local time. After a long wait for the bus, and then forking out quite a lot of money, we realised that the buses actually stopped at 6, and it was already nearly half  5. This meant we had to stay on the bus the entire time, meaning we couldn't explore Golden Gate Park and its Japanese Tea Garden.  We did manage a brief stop at the Golden Gate Bridge (crossing over it was amazing although the fog was starting to roll in at this point), and then on our way back - with us increasingly dazed and confused - we managed to work our way to Fisherman's Wharf, the home of much touristy tack and seafood restaurants. The latter we partook of (clam chowder, scallops, crab and shrimp pasta mmmm), the former we did not - too tacky even for us. But then, it is still early days...

We're off to pick up our little campervan tomorrow and then we hit the road - which will be very interesting. Pics to follow and hopefully also a more lucid/coherent blog post, as currently the room is spinning = desperate need of bed.
