From the ridiculous to the sublime

Thanking our impromptu campground provider, and amidst complaints about paddling in waste water due to blocked drains in the bathroom of the RV, we headed off to Yosemite. Soon we arrived at the closest campsite to the park entrance, where we booked in for the night, and purchased numerous items at the country store to try and repair the various faults with the motorhome. Then we headed off for our tour of the north of the park, along the Tioga Road.

This consisted of amazing views of pine forest and smooth granite domes, lakes, and ended up with a trip to Mono lake. A breathtaking journey with spectacular views. Although outside of the Park, it was an enormous lake, with amazing tufa rock formations on its shore.

We hurtled our way back to the campsite - or at least we would have done if we had not got stuck behind a motorhome towing a car at a very slow pace for the entire way back to the main road to the campsite.

Thankfully, we have arrived back in time for drinkypoos and dinner at a sensible time (as opposed to not at all last night), and the campsite has wifi (possibly powered by hamsters in wheels as it is s-l-o-w), so all is well with the world and holiday has now properly started. Also, the RV will now be returned in an improved state, as the light has been restored in the bathroom, and a new sewage hose has been purchased (highly exciting but the one that came with the van was disintegrating). Dinner tonight is the dinner we should have had yesterday - roast chicken ("ooh, the chicken" for those Rose family members not travelling with us). Off to do the rest of Yosemite tomorrow.
